My piece Sonoran Swing (above) was accepted into a multi-venue juried show in Richmond, VA. The details of the reception are below, so if you're in the area please stop by and say hello! I'll be there tomorrow (Saturday) at 3pm.
Please join us for the opening of our REFLECTING WOMEN'S WELLNESS 2010 show on Saturday, April 3 at the Atrium of the James Center, in Richmond. If you can 't make to the opening, we hope you will visit the show at the James Center in the following weeks or later in April or May at the Richmond Marriott West. The exhibit will feature 22 works by Virginia artists--female artists and male artists whose pieces are about women or girls.
The exhibit is the 5th annual show in celebration of Women & Girls' Wellness Month in April. The show was designed to call attention to the importance of artistic expression and experience to women's well being, both for artist and observer.
This year's show will include watercolors, oils, acrylics, mixed media works, selected by Andrea Douglas, Curator of Collections & Exhibits at University of Virginia Art Museum; Maggie Guggenheimer, Executive Director of the Piedmont Council for the Arts; and Holly Morrison, Chair of the Department of Painting and Printmaking at Virginia Commonwealth University. They have also chosen the pieces for awards that will be announced at the opening.
The artists whose works are available for purchase have generously agreed to donate a portion of their sales to Women's Health Virginia. So, your purchase will not only enhance the space where you hang the artwork, but it will help WHV expand our education, research and outreach programs.
